China Trip Study Abroad Opportunity

ACTCM-sponsored Study in China March 25 – April 5, 2013

A meeting will be held with Bingzeng Zou, PhD, DC, LAc, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Lee Swain, Director of Student Affairs on Tuesday, October 16th, from 12:30 to 1:30 in Room C for students interested in attending this excellent study-abroad opportunity

WHEN:
ACTCM is delighted to announce a college-sponsored Study Abroad Program at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University in Hangzhou, China. Hangzhou is one of the most beautiful cities of China, and well-known for its extraordinary beauty and elegance. The program will occur between Winter and Spring Quarters and will be 2 weeks in length from March 25 to April 5, 2013.

The travel dates for the trip are leaving San Francisco on Friday March 22 and coming back from Hangzhou on Saturday April 6, 2013. Students may not leave earlier than the trip begins or come back later as this would affect their class schedule here at ACTCM.

WHO:
Students who have completed paired internship may focus on acupuncture, Tuina, and/or internal medicine. The students who have successfully passed their first year comprehensive exams will be in the acupuncture and/or Tuina department as Internal Medicine requires a higher level of herbal knowledge.

Students who are attending the two-week program will receive two (2) optional observation externship clinic elective credits for their study in China. These credits do not go towards the required elective courses.

COSTS:
The cost for ACTCM students for 2 weeks of study will be approximately $1,850. These costs do not include airfare. The college will coordinate the airline tickets and if we have over 15 students, there will be a reduction in the airline costs. Students may use airline miles. All students will leave on the same date and return on the same date. In addition, students will pay for their lunches and dinners, which are very inexpensive.

The China Program Study costs that ACTCM has developed are very reasonable and include tuition at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, private room with breakfast, visa for China, and an ACTCM faculty member/administrator, who will oversee both the quality of the education and the administration of the trip. Such facilitation is crucial to assure an excellent educational and clinical experience.

All students will stay at the Nanyuan Inn. If students share a room for the 2 weeks, they will save approximately $150.

We must have a minimum of 12 students to hold this study-abroad program. We will also be opening it up to ACTCM alumni and other practitioners. The cost for ACTCM alumni will be approximately $2,050 and for practitioners approximately $2,250.

Financial Aid may be available for the ACTCM-sponsored study in China. Please see the Financial Aid Director for more information if you wish to obtain student loans for this trip.

If you are interested in participating in the China study program, please contact Lee Swain, Director of Student and Alumni Services, before November 15, 2012 (Application Deadline).
