A Leader in Chinese Medicine Invested in Community and Scholarship
Our Mission: ACTCM will provide exemplary professional education and quality patient care in acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
Founded in 1980 in San Francisco, the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) is one of the oldest and most prestigious eastern medicine schools in the United States. Distinguished faculty and a rigorous curriculum have established ACTCM as a truly exceptional College that attracts students from all over the world.
ACTCM offers master’s and doctoral degrees in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as public programs and continuing education courses. Our students, alumni, and faculty are deeply engaged in the acupuncture community and are leaders at the forefront of integrative care, research, public health, and holistic wellness.
Our Vision: ACTCM will be an international center of educational excellence that advances professional collaboration and sustainability in Chinese Medicine and health care.
ACTCM joined California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) as its fourth school in 2015. The merger has expanded resources and opportunities for acupuncture and mental health education, and research. ACTCM is proud to be the first institution to be approved by both the national programmatic accreditor (ACAOM) and regional accreditor (WSCUC) to offer a first professional doctorate.
Our two “Best of the Bay” Acupuncture and Herbal Clinics serve as training grounds for students while providing affordable health care services to the community. The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine has also been honored for its strong leadership role in promoting sustainable health care, particularly through protecting endangered species with organizations including the World Wild Fund, Animal Asia Foundation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and Save the Tiger Fund.
Our Core Values: ACTCM embraces the philosophy and spirit of Traditional Chinese Medicine and seeks to embody the following values in every endeavor:
- Integrity and Intellectual Freedom
- Diversity and Respect
- Caring and Compassion
- Harmony and Balance
- Collaboration and Leadership
