JoAnn W. Bennett, L.Ac., DAOM

Joey Bennett is a licensed acupuncturist who has run a private practice in San Francisco, Golden Monkey Acupuncture, since 2003 and supervises the ACTCM Community Auricular Acupuncture Clinic and the Auricular Clinic at the Women’s Resource Center. Her teaching emphasizes quick and correct patient assessment, kindness, empathy and understanding, excellence in time management, and how to balance the personal issues of being a helpful and intuitive healer and maintaining professional boundaries with patients. While the ear clinic is primarily protocol-based treatment, Joey makes time for in-depth discussions of TCM diagnoses and encourages inclusion of Tongue and Pulse diagnostics. Her focus in private practice is on internal medicine, fertility, pregnancy and postpartum care, with a healthy dose of orthopedic acupuncture and pain management. She works extensively with herbal medicine as well as acupuncture.

Education:

  • Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, ACTCM, San Francisco, 2019
  • Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine, ACTCM, San Francisco, 2002
  • Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, New College of California, San Francisco, 1998

On the Future of TCM:

  • Joey sees a strong future for the next generation of Chinese medicine practitioners, as our ability to positively affect mental and physical health and lessen the necessity for medications is becoming more widely accepted. This is a great time to enter the field as it is expanding quickly and many opportunities are opening for highly trained practitioners.
