Charity Burgess, L.Ac., DACM

Charity Burgess is a licensed acupuncturist and medical qi gong practitioner who owns Silk Tree Healing Center in San Francisco where she offers acupuncture and Chinese herbs to patients with chronic health issues, stress and pain. Prior to becoming a student and practitioner of TCM a decade ago, Charity was a patient herself. She has seen TCM grow quickly in popularity, acceptance, and availability in the U.S. and feels confident that it will continue to become a primary medicine in Western culture as preference for less invasive treatments and natural medicine grows.

Best Advice for New Students/Grads:

  • Have a vision and a plan for what you would like to do with your degree. Develop relationships with other practitioners who have succeeded at obtaining something close to your vision. The most important thing about starting a career in TCM is a deep love for the medicine and profound respect for its history. Develop an energy practice for maintaining good health while working with patients.
