Patient Procedures and Precautions

Symptoms That Exclude You From Receiving Treatment

We are currently not providing in-person acupuncture treatment to patients who exhibit fever (>100.4 F), chills, cough, or any of the symptoms listed below. Please contact your primary care provider or arrange to schedule a telehealth appointment.

Patient Procedures and Precautions

In order to maintain the health and safety of our patients, faculty, students, and staff, the following procedures and precautions are in place for in-person acupuncture until further notice:

Mask: Wearing a mask (covering both nose and mouth) at ALL TIMES is required during your appointment. Masks help protect you and others, and are mandatory for treatment.

Patient Screening: Patients will be required to fill out a COVID Screening Form (sent to your email via Jane App) prior to your appointment. If you answer yes to any of the screening questions, you will not be allowed into the clinic for treatment that day. If you have any of the following symptoms prior to treatment, please stay home and reschedule your appointment:

  • Fever, chills, or repeated shaking/shivering
  • Cough/shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
  • Sore throat
  • Unexplained muscle pain or headache
  • Feeling unusually weak or fatigued
  • Runny or congested nose
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of smell or taste

Arrival: Please arrive no more than 5 minutes prior to your appointment, wait outside and call the front desk at 415.282.9603 when you arrive. A student clinician will meet you and bring you in to your appointment.

Temperature Check: The clinic will take your temperature when you arrive. If you have a fever of >100.F, you will not be allowed into the clinic for treatment that day. If you think you have a fever prior to treatment, please stay home and reschedule your appointment.

Hand Washing/Sanitizing: Please sanitize or wash your hands (for 20 seconds) upon entering the building.

No Guests: We are asking all patients to avoid bringing guests (including partners), unless they are needed for support or are a parent accompanying a minor child. Support persons can accompany the patient to get them settled and upon leaving; otherwise, support persons are asked to wait outside for the duration of the treatment. Support persons must follow requirements for wearing a face mask and maintain social distancing while on-site.

Late Cancellation Fee: 24 hour notice is required to cancel or reschedule appointments. Exceptions: the development of any COVID-related symptoms. To receive this exception, please contact the clinic via telephone.

Physical Distancing and Scheduling: We have reduced our clinic capacity to minimize any interactions between patients to allow time for sanitization and a minimum of 15 minutes wait time following each patient treatment before scheduling our next patient.

Room Sanitization: Treatment rooms are sanitized before and after each treatment. All surfaces are wiped down using EPA-approved disinfectants for COVID-19.

We look forward to being able to serve you.
