As healthcare providers, it is very important that our students take care of their own health first. ACTCM offers a variety of health and wellness resources. Students receive discounted treatments and services at our clinics, including acupuncture, herbs and massage. Qigong classes and workshops are also held regularly and are open to both students and the public. The office of Student Affairs will also help students identify other health resources in the Bay Area.
The California Institute of Integral Studies is vitally interested in making your academic and personal experience meaningful and successful. Your health and wellness are key components of that experience. To ensure that students have access to the health care they need and to avoid the hardship of expensive medical bills, CIIS requires all full-time students to have adequate health insurance as a condition of enrollment.
Starting in the 2017-2018 academic year, our sponsored student insurance plan changed from Kaiser Permanente to UnitedHealthcare, a national Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), which provides students with access to In-Network and Out-of-Network providers while at school, home or during travel. With this new plan we are able to offer our students a comprehensive, benefit-rich plan at a reduced premium.
Rates and detailed plan benefits are posted through the Gallagher Student Health Website. Please visit www.gallagherstudent.com/CIIS for more information. Options are also available for spouse and child add on.
All full time-students, residing in the state of California, will be required to purchase the UnitedHealthcare Plan unless proof of comparable insurance is provided during the waiver and enrollment period.
If you have questions about Student Health Insurance, please contact the Office of Student Affairs.
