Our degree programs have different requirements for applicants. Please read the following information carefully and contact the Admissions Office if you have further questions.

Entry Requirements for the MSTCM Program

To enter the Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine program, you must have completed the following requirements before applying:

For U.S. Citizens

  1. A minimum of 90 semester- or 135 quarter-units from an accredited U.S. institution of higher education or a foreign equivalent.* Credits must be at the college level and be applicable toward a degree program such as an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree.
  2. A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. However, a GPA below 3.0 does not automatically disqualify an applicant and ACTCM will consider prospective students whose GPA is between 2.0 and 3.0. These individuals are required to submit a GPA Statement and are encouraged to contact the Office of Admissions [link to email:admissions@actcm.edu] to discuss their options.
  3. Demonstrated competency in English, or a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based (PBT) TOEFL test for international students.

For International Students

  1. Must have completed a minimum of 90 semester credits (or 135 quarter credits) from an accredited U.S. institution of higher education or a foreign equivalent. Credits must be at the college level and be applicable toward a degree program such as an associate’s degree or bachelor’s.
  2. International students are required to maintain a minimum of 12 credits each quarter while enrolled at ACTCM. This means that International Students must choose either the full-time track curriculum or 3/4 track curriculum. Half-time track and certificate program are not applicable for International students.
  3. All international applications must take the TOEFL exam. Scores of of 550 on the paper exam, or 213 on the computer exam, are required for acceptance to ACTCM. For more information on the TOEFL exam, please visit the TOEFL website.

*Approval status for the foreign equivalency of each institution will be determined by the Admissions Committee.

Entry Requirements for the DAOM Program

To enter the Doctorate of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine program, you must have completed the following requirements before applying:

For U.S. Citizens

  1. Graduation from an accredited program (or candidate for accreditation) in Oriental Medicine, or foreign equivalent.*
  2. OR A minimum of 10 years documented experience, plus formal college training in acupuncture and Oriental medicine. Applicants must provide ACTCM with official transcripts and may need to take challenge examinations in areas identified by the Admissions Committee.
  3. Good academic and financial standing at the last institution attended.
  4. Demonstrated competency in English, or a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based (PBT) TOEFL test for international students.

For International Students

  1. Graduation from an approved international college of acupuncture and Oriental medicine* Applicants who do not have the foreign equivalent of a master’s degree in AOM will be given consideration for admittance if they have a minimum of ten years documented experience and pass challenge examinations in areas identified by the Admissions Committee.
  2. Are in good standing at the last institution attended
  3. English competency as demonstrated by passing of the TOEFL with a minimum score of 550
