These may be technologies you use from home or that your doctor uses to improve or support health care services.”
The World Health Organization describes Telemedicine (aka Telehealth) as “The delivery of health care services, where distance is a critical factor, by all health care professionals using information and communication technologies for the exchange of valid information for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease and injuries, research and evaluation, and for the continuing education of health care providers, all in the interests of advancing the health of individuals and their communities.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Changes in the way that health care is delivered during this pandemic are needed to reduce staff exposure to ill persons, preserve personal protective equipment (PPE), and minimize the impact of patient surges on facilities. Health care systems have had to adjust the way they evaluate, and care for patients using methods that do not rely on in-person services.
