Acupuncture and Herbal Clinic

(Main Clinic)

The ACTCM Acupuncture and Herbal Clinic is a community-oriented teaching clinic. Our ACTCM clinical interns are in the final phase of a rigorous four-year program taught by experts in traditional Chinese medicine healing techniques. Interns treat patients under the direct supervision of clinical faculty who are California licensed acupuncturists. They are extensively trained practitioners who have been selected for their expertise, areas of specialty, experience working in holistic medicine, and thorough knowledge of today’s health conditions. Acupuncture Treatments

There are three different treatment options available with interns: single intern, paired intern, and group (4 interns). All interns are supervised and consult with a clinic faculty supervisor.  Depending on your treatment plan, you may also be offered the following additional treatments: cupping, moxabustion, electro-stimulation, and chinese herbs.

Herbal Treatments

The ACTCM Acupuncture and Herbal Clinic features its own full-service herbal dispensary that carries an extensive selection of high-quality Chinese herbal medicine including raw herbs, powdered herbs and herbal pills at an affordable cost.

Faculty Treatments

At our main clinic you have the opportunity to receive treat from one of our acclaimed and experienced ACTCM faculty. Our faculty have various specialties and backgrounds including: orthopedics, gynecology, and internal medicine, among others.

Acupuncture Rates

The ACTCM Clinic offers its acupuncture services on a sliding scale, $45-$65, based on income. Reduced rates of $35 are available for students with a current student ID and low-income senior citizens aged 62 and older. Faculty treatments are offered at $98. The Clinic also has a discount for Medi-Cal patients. Please call for pricing information.


Ear Clinic: Pioneer Square De Haro St. (Mon. and Wed.)

The Auricular (Ear) Clinic was started in 1994 as a donation-based community clinic with the mission to provide quality holistic medicine in a safe and welcoming environment to members of the public who may not otherwise be able to afford it. Some of the more common health complaints treated are pain relief, smoking cessation, PMS, stress relief, and drug-addiction recovery. Patients are seen on a drop-in, first come, first-served basis. Treatment sessions typically last between 20 and 40 minutes, and are performed in a group setting while patients relax in a chair. Our ear clinic is located at our Pioneer Campus on 555 De Haro St. in Potrero Hill. Call us: 415.355.1601, ext. 313.

Ear Clinic: CIIS Mission St. (Tues.) -On Summer Hiatus-

The merger of ACTCM with CIIS in 2015 has helped us further our goal of offering integrative, holistic healing to our Bay Area communities. The Ear Clinic acupuncture interns at CIIS are under the supervision of Jonathan Wheeler, LAc.

The Clinic at CIIS is located at 1453 Mission St. Clinic hours are normally on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 4:15pm, but will be on hiatus for the Summer semester.  Please keep in mind that CIIS is easily accessible by public transportation: Civic Center BART and MUNI Van Ness station.

Massage Treatments

Tui Na Massage: Tui Na is an ancient form of Chinese physical therapy that is approximately 2,000 years old. It uses traction, massage, and manipulation in conjunction with the stimulation of acupressure points. Tui Na provides stress relief, and treats (or complements) many conditions, including musculoskeletal disorders and chronic stress-related disorders of the digestive, respiratory, and reproductive systems.

Shiatsu Massage:
Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork similar to acupressure and acupuncture that concentrates on unblocking the flow of Qi (energy) and restoring balance in the body in order to promote self-healing. Shiatsu massage treats common psychological and physical complaints, such as depression, anxiety, nausea, stiffness, headaches, arthritis, cramps, or pulled muscles.

Cancellation Policy
We require 24-hours notice for all cancellations. Patients who must cancel an appointment and are unable to provide a minimum of 24 hours notice will be charged a cancellation fee of $20.  Request an appointment

Women’s Resource Center (WRC)

The Women’s Resource Center is primarily a day-treatment center for women released from the San Francisco jail that offers a variety of resources to help women transition back into the community. Acupuncture interns provide auricular acupuncture in a group setting to support women participating in WRC programs.
