Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. As a college at CIIS, ACTCM is an institution accredited by the Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and College (WSCUC). ACTCM’s MSTCM and DACM programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). In addition, the MSTCM program is approved by the California Acupuncture Board, which allows our graduates to sit for the California exam.

With a solid academic curriculum, esteemed faculty, and a diverse student body and clinical experience, ACTCM’s programs are among the most comprehensive in the nation.

We offer public classes through California Institute of Integral Studies. Classes are held occasionally at the ACTCM campus (such as Qi Gong). Check out our CIIS Public Programs & Performances.

Yes. The college is aware that many students are balancing their personal lives, work, and school while attending ACTCM. By offering day and evening classes on an accelerated, full-, ¾-, or ½-time basis, ACTCM is able to offer flexible scheduling to accommodate those with other commitments.

ACTCM has scheduled courses so that students in the standard full-time program of study will only have classes on Monday through Wednesday for the first 5 semesters of the program so that they can better plan for family and work commitments.

Yes. ACTCM is affiliated with the Yue Yang Hospital at Shanghai University and the Zhejiang Chinese Medical University in Hangzhou. Study abroad trips are run every year between the winter and spring quarters. Reach out to us at actcmadmissions@ciis.edu for more information.

In addition to ACTCM’s on-site community clinic, the college maintains numerous partnerships with local hospitals and clinics. These alliances provide ACTCM interns with the opportunity to do clinical rotations in diverse integrative care settings.

Classes begin three times a year during the first week of September, January, and May.

Applications are processed on a rolling basis. However, we suggest you begin the application process around three to four months prior to your preferred start date. Under special circumstances we are able to process applications closer to the start of each semester.

All students are required to meet the following requirements for admission:

  • A minimum of 90 semester or 135 quarter units from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent
  • A 3.0 GPA (GPA’s under 3.0 may be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis.)
  • Submission of a completed Application for Admission
  • Completion of an interview with the Admissions Committee
