Doctorate in AOM
Our DAOM program began in the fall of 2006, and we are proud to be one of the few AOM colleges approved by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) and the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) to offer this degree.
This clinically based, advanced professional program is open to individuals with a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine or licensed practitioners. The intensive module format both accommodates practitioners’ lives and professional practices, as well as creates an environment in which students can immediately apply the knowledge and skills they learn in their clinical practices.
ACTCM offers two specialties: TCM Gynecology and TCM Pain Management. The capstone projects enable the students to enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence in these two specialty areas. The DAOM offers additional in-depth skills and practical knowledge in other specific areas commonly found in practice, such as TCM dermatology and TCM neurology.
Students complete their internships in the ACTCM Acupuncture & Herbal Clinic, local hospitals, outpatient clinics, and with private practitioners. Students also have the choice of completing some of their externship at the Shanghai University of TCM.
Our highly skilled and diverse faculty prepare students to work in collaborative settings. The grand rounds format, which involves biomedical and TCM faculty treating patients, is highly successful. Our program focuses on providing indepth clinical knowledge and skills. The didactic portions involve case-based and problem-based learning approaches.
We invite you to sit in on a module and see for yourself why ACTCM’s doctoral program is foremost in the nation in offering advanced training for TCM professionals.
