Why Choose ACTCM?
ACTCM’s high admissions standards, challenging curriculum and small class sizes reflect the quality of education we provide, and consistently make our college one of the most well-respected in the country.
Founded in 1980, ACTCM is one of the oldest Traditional Chinese Medicine colleges in the country and was the first in the nation to be approved to offer the Master’s of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. ACTCM has been honored for its curriculum, faculty and clinic, and voted “Best of the Bay” by both the San Francisco Weekly and the San Francisco Bay Guardian. The college has also been honored for its role in animal conservation and partnerships with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Save the Tiger Fund.
ACTCM consistently has one of the highest scores on the California Licensing and National exams. Many of ACTCM’s alumni have become successful and respected practitioners, authors and teachers.
Our faculty have been carefully selected for their vast clinical experience and knowledge of TCM, as well as for their ability to transfer this information and skill to students. Our faculty consist of both Western- and Chinese-trained practitioners who have experience working in integrative medicine and the understanding necessary for dealing with the health problems of today’s modern society.
Diverse Clinical Training
ACTCM is proud to offer one of the most comprehensive and diverse clinical experiences in the country. In addition to an optional clinical internship in China, students at ACTCM have the opportunity to work as interns in multiple specialized clinical sites located throughout San Francisco.
To help students balance their personal lives, work, and school, ACTCM offers three schedule options (½-time, ¾-time, and full-time programs) and classes during the day and evening.
Our students have access to one of the largest and most comprehensive TCM libraries in the country. Presentations, workshops and services such as our mentorship program, student tutoring and alumni office tours help students to succeed in their studies and find success in their practices after graduation.
ACTCM’s on-site community clinic and auricular clinic provide over 20,000 low-cost acupuncture treatments to San Francisco Bay Area residents each year. In addition, ACTCM interns participate in multiple off campus externship sites and log hundreds of hours of community service annually.
Leadership in TCM Education
Our college is active on the local, state and national levels, working to ensure continued professional development in the field while modeling leadership qualities for our students and graduates.
